TBCYC Code of Conduct

  1. The TBCYC values all its members and wants choir to be safe and fun for everyone. Choir members and all staff are entitled to respect, and will respect themselves and each other at all times.
  2. Choir time is precious and needs to be used well. During rehearsals, choristers will keep talking to a minimum, will actively listen, and follow instructions from the conductor, pianist or adult in charge.
  3. Choir members in the older divisions (Cantabile, Chamber, Youth) must have a pencil and their music with them at every rehearsal.
  4. Cell phones should be silenced and away at all times during all rehearsals unless they are being used for the purposes of recording rehearsals for at home practice.
  5. Please make every attempt to arrive on time. If you will be late or absent, please email or send a text to 647-248-9191.
  6. Please make sure to use the washroom and have a snack before rehearsal. Gum, candy, food and drink, other than water, are not allowed during rehearsals.
  7. Choristers will not be allowed to leave the church at the end of rehearsal unless we have an email from parents stating that they are allowed to be unsupervised outside.
  8. Please make sure to carefully read Monday emails every week. If for any reason you aren’t receiving them, please notify us right away.
  9. Any chorister performing a medium or large role in the spring show is expected to come to rehearsals prepared, having looked over the music, script and staging in advance. Music and a pencil must be at each and every rehearsal. Lack of preparedness may result in a chorister’s role being reassigned.
  10. Choristers must remember that they are ambassadors for the choir whenever they are performing or traveling as a group, and must conduct themselves accordingly.
  11. To ensure everyone’s safety and happiness in the organization, we will have a sit down meeting with any chorister and their parents if their behaviour is consistently disruptive to the group. Three warnings may result in dismissal from the choir.
